Today, the port of Pingdingshan in Henan officially opened.

On November 5th, Pingdingshan Port officially started operations. The main channel of the Shahe and Shayang River within the 261 kilometers in Henan province is fully navigable, making Pingdingshan the fourth freight navigation city in Henan after Zhoukou, Xinyang, and Luohe. The Shayang River is an important part of the national high-grade waterway network and a golden waterway that reaches the sea. Pingdingshan Port is the westernmost inland port in Henan, with a total area of 562.8 acres, 11 berths in the north and south port areas, and an annual designed throughput capacity of 4.35 million tons. By relying on the Shayang River channel and the Huai River ecological economic belt, a "public-transport-water-air" multimodal transport network is constructed, which can radiate throughout the whole of western Henan and inland provinces such as Shaanxi and Shanxi in the northwest, efficiently carrying minerals, chemical materials, steel, cement, containers, and other diversified goods transport, injecting strong kinetic energy into the regional logistics system.
