On November 5th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maoning presided over a regular press conference. A journalist from Agence France-Presse asked, "The EU has stated yesterday that they will investigate the sale of nickel mining business by British mining giant Anglo American Resources Group to China Minmetals. What is the Foreign Ministry's comment on this?" Maoning replied, "For specific issues, I suggest you contact the relevant Chinese authorities." She stated that as a principle, China has always supported Chinese enterprises in conducting practical cooperation in various fields based on the principle of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. "We hope that relevant parties will adhere to their commitments to openness, respect market economies and the principle of fair competition, and not politicize trade and economic issues or overly securitize them, in order to provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for enterprises from all countries," she said.
