Oil prices rose in early Asian trading. Near-month WTI crude oil futures rose by 0.6% to $61.37 per barrel, while near-month Brent crude oil futures rose by 0.6% to $65.17 per barrel. OPEC and its allies agreed on Sunday to increase daily production by 137,000 barrels in December, but stated that they will not increase production in the first three months of 2026 due to seasonal reasons. Jorge Leon from Rystad Energy said: "Just like the organization's recent meetings, this round of meetings also brought an unexpected development." The geopolitical analysis director added: "This unexpected development comes from their decision to pause any production increases in the first quarter of 2026."
