The South Korean Ministry of Science and Technology is discussing with Nvidia to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence in the public sector.
The South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT announced on Friday that they have discussed with the American tech giant NVIDIA about strengthening the public sector's artificial intelligence ecosystem. Earlier, NVIDIA revealed a plan to deploy up to 260,000 graphics processing units in South Korea, with 50,000 units allocated for use in the public sector. The South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT stated that the GPUs allocated to the public sector will be used to support government-led AI basic model development and the operation of state-owned AI computing centers. The ministry also mentioned that they will expand administrative support for the collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and NVIDIA in developing physical AI technology. The South Korean government and NVIDIA have also agreed to further support AI-related Korean startups and promote technological collaboration between NVIDIA and Korean national research institutions.
