Today, the National Development and Reform Commission held a press conference for the month of October. The spokesperson of the National Development and Reform Commission stated that in recent days, temperatures have been continuously dropping in northern regions, with many areas reaching winter standards earlier than usual. The National Development and Reform Commission, together with relevant parties, will focus on ensuring energy supply, resource reserves, and emergency dispatch, laying a solid foundation for this year's heating season. In terms of supply capacity, as of the end of September, the country's cumulative installed power generation capacity was 3.72 billion kilowatts, an 18% increase compared to the previous year; since October, the daily average of coal loading on national railway has remained at a high level of 56,000 cars. In terms of reserves, as of October 27th, national power plants have a coal reserve of 220 million tons, which can last for more than 35 days; underground gas storage facilities have completed the annual gas injection task and are fully stocked for winter. In terms of peak load capacity, as of the end of September, the maximum cross-regional power transmission reached 1.5 billion kilowatts, significantly increasing the ability to share power among regions; more than 1 billion kilowatts of new energy storage capacity has been put into operation, providing stronger regulation capabilities; the national gas storage capacity and peak load capacity of gas networks have both been further improved compared to the previous year. Spokesperson Li Chao of the National Development and Reform Commission stated that after comprehensive assessment, the overall supply and demand of energy for the heating season this year is balanced, ensuring stable supply and pricing for people's energy needs and warmth during winter. Next, the National Development and Reform Commission will strengthen overall coordination, guarantee energy production and supply, promote energy resource security and stable production and increase production, and ensure that all types of power generation units are put into use. They will also ensure peak load supply and emergency response, and prepare for extreme weather such as low temperatures, rain, snow, and ice.
