The Chinese Athletics Association is further standardizing marathon events and increasing the number of entries for the general public.
On the 31st, the Chinese Athletic Association issued a notice on further regulating the work related to marathon events, requiring an increase in the number of spots available for the public. In principle, the number of spots for public participants in each event should not be less than 90% of the total number of participants. The Chinese Athletic Association stated that marathons, as sports events with high social attention, broad public participation, and significant comprehensive impact, play a positive role in meeting the fitness needs of the people, promoting sports consumption and economic development. The notice aims to coordinate the safety, orderly, and high-quality organization of marathon events, further improve the event organization system, clarify the responsibilities of all parties, strengthen risk prevention and safety protection mechanisms, and guide participants to establish a concept of "progressive training, scientific training, civilized participation, taking it easy, and safely completing the race."
