The website of Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation shows that on October 23, Beijing Erguotou Liquor Industry Co., Ltd. was fined 15,000 yuan by Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee for violating the Anti-Unfair Competition Law. The reason for the punishment shows that the company produced several outer packaging labels identifying the products as "Yongfeng 1163 Imperial Tribute Liquor", "Yongfeng 1163 Tribute Royal Liquor", and "Yongfeng Brand Chinese Time-honored Brand Originated from Imperial Tribute Liquor". The company provided testing reports for the products involved, which showed no quality issues and were all qualified products, as well as providing relevant trademark registration certificates for "Yongfeng Imperial Tribute Liquor, Yongfeng 1163, Tribute Royal". The regulatory authority believed that the company failed to provide relevant historical records that are inheritable and traceable to corroborate the promotional content, and that the product promotion did not match the actual situation. In this case, the company used multiple registered trademarks it held to rearrange and combine for product identification, which constitutes improper use of registered trademarks, violates the provisions of the Trademark Law, and constitutes unfair competition. The company has already taken the involved products off the shelves and recalled them.
