The SFC fully supports the strategy formulated by the Hong Kong Government to consolidate Hong Kong's position as a world-leading international financial centre.
16 September: The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes the strategic directions and priority initiatives outlined by the Chief Executive in Hong Kong's First Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Policy Address.
The SFC fully supports the Hong Kong Government's strategy to consolidate Hong Kong's position as a world-leading international financial centre, and in particular supports the following measures: strengthening Hong Kong's functions as a global offshore Renminbi business hub, an international asset and wealth management centre and an international risk management centre; enhancing the depth, breadth and international connectivity of Hong Kong's capital markets; and promoting financial services to support the real economy and high-quality development.
The Five-Year Plan and the Policy Address provide a coherent framework that enables Hong Kong to leverage its unique advantages under "One Country, Two Systems", deepen its connections with the Mainland and global markets, and enhance its competitiveness in an evolving global financial landscape.
Dr Wong Tin-yau, Chairman of the SFC, said: "Given the significance of the Five-Year Plan and the 2026 Policy Address to Hong Kong's future development, the SFC's Board will discuss at its upcoming monthly meeting how the SFC can further support the implementation of the priority initiatives in the Chief Executive's blueprint, including strengthening Hong Kong's functions as a global offshore Renminbi business hub and an international asset and wealth management centre, and enhancing the depth, breadth and competitiveness of Hong Kong's capital markets."
