HKEX will fully support the policy direction, further consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international financial center, strengthening its function as a global offshore RMB hub, and supporting the development of the commodity trading ecosystem.
HKEX (00388) Chairman Carlson Tong said that Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu today delivered the first five-year plan and the Policy Address. The two policy documents clearly set out Hong Kong's development vision and strategic direction for the next five years, leading Hong Kong to proactively align with the national development strategy and promoting long-term and value-based sustainable development. HKEX will fully support the policy direction, further consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's status as an international financial centre, enhance its function as a global offshore RMB hub, and support the development of the commodities trading ecosystem.
In addition, HKEX Group Chief Executive Officer Bonnie Chan said: "Hong Kong's first five-year plan and the 2026 Policy Address set out the SAR government's grand development vision of actively contributing to the country's high-quality development. HKEX is at the core of Hong Kong's financial market and bears the important role of operator of financial market infrastructure. It will fully support the relevant important plans and, by focusing on connecting 'people, goods, and venues' as the main thread, build a more comprehensive and internationally competitive multi-asset ecosystem."
Bonnie Chan mentioned that HKEX will continue to actively advance various strategic initiatives, focusing on four major strategic directions, including: expanding the offshore RMB asset, fixed income, currency and commodities ecosystem; deepening the breadth and depth of the secondary market ecosystem; enhancing Hong Kong's competitiveness as an international financing platform; and using technology to empower financial market infrastructure. By implementing these strategic directions, we are committed to attracting more global long-term capital, supporting the development of high-quality enterprises, advancing RMB internationalisation, and enhancing market risk management capabilities, thereby building a more robust and vibrant financial market and consolidating and enhancing Hong Kong's position as a leading international financial centre.
