HKEX: Since the optimization measures for U.S. dollar gold futures were introduced, market trading and physical delivery activities have remained active.
Today, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange completed the physical delivery of 145 kilograms of U.S. dollar gold futures, surpassing the previous historical record of 63 kilograms set in December 2018.
On August 19, HKEX announced that since the introduction of the optimization measures for USD Gold Futures, market trading and physical delivery activities have remained active. The physical delivery volume completed today reached a historical high for the contract, further reflecting the important role of USD Gold Futures in connecting the futures market with the physical gold market. Today, HKEX's USD Gold Futures completed the delivery of 145 kilograms of gold, exceeding the historical record of 63 kilograms set in December 2018, thus breaking the highest single-day physical delivery record for the contract.
Since the market optimization was completed on July 6, by August 19, the average daily trading volume (ADV) of USD Gold Futures reached 9,974 contracts, with a nominal trading amount of approximately $1.35 billion, attracting more than 30 market participants to engage in trading.
Physical delivery is one of the important features of HKEX's USD Gold Futures, helping to connect the futures market with the physical gold market. The re-launch of this product supports the aggregation of gold warehousing, logistics, and delivery services in Hong Kong, further supporting the construction of Hong Kong as an international gold trading center and enriching the local gold market ecosystem.
