Hong Kong Stock Exchange: Appoints former Chairman of Alibaba (09988), Zhang Yong, as a member of the China Business Advisory Committee.

On August 1, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange announced the appointment of Zhang Yong, former chairman of Alibaba's board of directors, as the newest member of the Exchange's China Business Advisory Committee.
On August 1st, HKEX announced the appointment of Mr. Zhang Yong, a partner at Morning Capital and former chairman of Alibaba (09988), as the newest member of HKEX's China Business Advisory Committee. HKEX Chairman Laura Cha expressed her pleasure at Mr. Zhang Yong's addition to the China Business Advisory Committee. With his extensive experience and deep understanding of Chinese companies and financial markets, he can provide valuable insights to the HKEX board, helping HKEX leverage its unique advantage of "connecting China with the world" and achieve its strategic goals. According to the information, Zhang Yong is currently a managing partner at Morning Capital. Prior to joining Morning Capital, he joined Alibaba Group in 2007 and held several important positions during his tenure. He served as the CEO of Alibaba Group from 2015 and concurrently served as the chairman of the board until stepping down in 2023. With Zhang Yong's addition, the China Business Advisory Committee will now have nine members, with HKEX non-executive director and Chairman and CEO of CITIC Capital Holdings Limited, Zhang Yichen, serving as the committee chair. Other members of the committee include: former HKEX Chairman Charles Li, Chairman of Chunhua Capital Hu Zuli, Professor Huang Yiping, Dean of the National Development Institute and Director of the Digital Finance Research Center at Peking University, Chairman of the National Technology Transfer Guidance Fund and former President and CEO of China Merchants Bank Ma Weihua, Partner and Chairman of TPG China Sun Qiang, HKEX Chairman Laura Cha, and HKEX Group CEO Calvin Tai.
