During the May Day Golden Week, so far, Hong Kong has received 265,000 visitors, showing a 27% increase compared to last year.
During a meeting with the media today, the Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Luo Shupei, stated that during the May Day holiday, Hong Kong has already welcomed 265,000 visitors, which is a 27% increase compared to last year. Among them, there were approximately 222,000 visitors from Mainland China, representing a 22% increase. The growth in overseas visitors was even more significant, with about 43,000 visitors, an increase of over 50%. In terms of group tours, there were approximately 260 Mainland tour groups entering Hong Kong yesterday, with 75% staying overnight. Hong Kong welcomes visitors to stay longer in the city. Furthermore, popular attractions like Tsim Sha Tsui have seen an increase in visitors, and the Hong Kong Transport Department is working hard with public transport operators to increase frequencies and capacity. Despite the high visitor numbers, the situation has been well managed. Luo Shupei also noted that some visitors are choosing to travel during off-peak times, resulting in a better experience. She believes that there will be more activities in Hong Kong during the rest of the May Day holiday, with many malls and restaurants offering promotions. On the Buddha's Birthday, there will be the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, and in the evening, there will be the Bun Scrambling Competition on Victoria Peak. Luo Shupei hopes that everyone can enjoy a happy and pleasant May Day holiday together.
