Sony launches $60 wired earphones with a retro 1980s design style.

Sony Group has launched a cheap wired headphone, the MDR-3R, priced at $60, going on sale Thursday, inspired by the headphones Sony included with the first-generation Walkman in 1979 and riding the current revival of retro tech. The headphones retain the same 23mm driver units as their retro prototype to deliver similar sound quality, while being fine-tuned to better cater to modern listeners' preferences. Sony has also launched an $80 higher-end tie-in model in collaboration with Netflix's "Stranger Things" series, featuring custom packaging and the show's title engraved on the hardware.
