Major European stock indices closed broadly lower.

The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 0.47%, the STOXX Europe Index fell 0.35%, and eurozone blue chips fell 0.37%. France's CAC 40 Index fell 0.22%, Spain's IBEX Index fell 0.72%, the UK's FTSE 100 Index fell 1.03%, and Germany's DAX Index fell 0.31%.
