On November 2 local time, Qualcomm announced that its first-generation high-bandwidth compute chip has completed hardware validation, successfully testing the full memory read/write path and near-memory computing capabilities. The technology reduces data movement by placing compute units close to memory, thereby improving bandwidth and energy efficiency and lowering the power consumption and cost of AI inference. Qualcomm said that a data center product has completed tape-out, and preliminary testing of the relevant logic base die and stacked DRAM is underway. The DragonflyAI250 featuring HBC technology is expected to provide samples in the first half of 2027.
