On the morning of November 3, at the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit, Joseph Tsai, co-founder and chairman of Alibaba Group, delivered a keynote speech as the head of an internet company. He stated that demand for AI continues to rise, and Chinese companies continue to increase model open-sourcing and ecosystem openness, maintaining leadership in key indicators such as downloads of open-source models. There is much discussion and differing views surrounding AI development today, but "only open source can enable widespread adoption, and only widespread adoption can create sustainable, inclusive era intelligence" has become a consensus. According to Joseph Tsai, Alibaba proposed an open-source and open strategy three years ago; to date, Alibaba's Qwen has open-sourced more than 470 models, with cumulative global downloads exceeding 4 billion.
