Li Gang, Research Director of the China Foreign Exchange Investment Research Institute, said that gold prices may continue their inertial downward trend, with the key level to watch being the $3,500-$3,600 range, and domestic gold prices may fall to around 800 yuan/gram. Previously, international gold prices fell below $3,900/ounce, and domestic gold prices simultaneously fell below the 810 yuan mark. Li Gang pointed out that this round of gold price decline is a herd effect. Under the broader environment of global monetary policy tending toward tightening, market investment sentiment has become more cautious, with greater use of policy cycles to select higher-quality assets. Along with rising US Treasury yields, funds are flowing back to the US market or holders are staying in cash to wait and see, leaving little room for gold prices to rise. The current gold premium and price decline are unfavorable for investors investing in physical gold.
