On October 31, the 7th Manned Space Academic Conference was held at Beihang University. The reporter learned at the conference that China plans to achieve the landing of Chinese astronauts on the moon before 2030. The plan adopts a "two launches, one moon landing" approach to achieve a crewed lunar landing. Wang Xiang, deputy chief designer of China's manned space engineering program and chief designer of the lunar exploration program, introduced at the conference that China's first crewed lunar exploration mission plans to use a lunar orbit rendezvous flight mode. It is understood that this mode will use two Long March 10 carrier rockets, first sending the lander to lunar orbit, and then launching a crewed spacecraft to rendezvous and dock with the lander. The astronauts will enter the lander and separate from the crewed spacecraft to land on the lunar surface and carry out relevant scientific exploration activities. After completing the mission, the astronauts will ascend from the lunar surface in the lander, achieve a second rendezvous and docking with the crewed spacecraft in lunar orbit, and return to Earth aboard the crewed spacecraft. Wang Xiang introduced that the crew for China's first crewed lunar exploration mission is planned to consist of three members, two of whom will land on the lunar surface. At present, the research and development and construction work for the lunar landing phase of China's lunar exploration program is being steadily advanced.
