Egg prices in Japan's domestic market have recently hit a new record high, and with the bird flu season approaching and the peak consumption period around the New Year drawing near, egg prices are expected to remain elevated. Results of a nationwide survey conducted by Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries from the 19th to the 21st of this month showed that the average price of a 10-egg pack was 312 yen, up 3 yen from September and the highest since the survey began in 2003. In addition, prices of chicken thigh meat and imported beef were also on par with record highs.
