Canadian Prime Minister Carney announced on the 29th the launch of a national security strategy called the "Stronger Canada Plan," which is Canada's first national security strategy formulated in more than 20 years. The strategy states that the boundary between economic security and national security has disappeared. National security depends not only on national defense and abundant resources, but also on economic strength, institutional resilience, and partnerships established with allies. According to the published content, the strategy proposes five major priorities: first, strengthening economic security and enhancing its ability to withstand risks; second, implementing a robust foreign policy, advancing diversified partnerships, and enhancing strategic capabilities; third, rebuilding and strengthening the Canadian Armed Forces to defend Canada and its interests; fourth, strengthening public safety and defending against crime and national security threats; fifth, enhancing intelligence capabilities to anticipate and respond to emerging threats. Carney stated that in a rapidly changing and increasingly dangerous world, Canada must have the ability to defend its sovereignty and the resilience to respond to emerging threats. The Office of the Prime Minister of Canada stated that the Canadian government will update the strategy at least every four years.
