DoorDash in talks to acquire Instacart, will release earnings early.
DoorDash Inc., the food delivery service provider that is in talks to acquire Instacart, has moved up the release date of its financial results by nearly a week. The company said in a statement released Wednesday evening local time that it now plans to report third-quarter earnings before the U.S. market opens on Oct. 29, rather than the previously planned Nov. 4. The statement did not specify the reason for the date change. People familiar with the matter said this week that DoorDash is in advanced talks to acquire Instacart's parent company Maplebear Inc. for about $17 billion. The acquisition of the grocery app could be announced as early as this week, the people said. No final decision has been made, and the talks could still fall apart. The negotiations come amid increasingly fierce competition in the grocery delivery sector. Media previously reported that Instacart had held talks about a sale to Uber Technologies Inc.
