Spokesperson for CMG Sports and Youth Center: We do not accept Real Madrid's statement.
In response to Spanish media reports regarding the statement by La Liga club Real Madrid on Mbapp's negative remarks concerning China, the spokesperson of the Sports and Youth Center of China Media Group replied as follows: We have noted Real Madrid's public statement. Yesterday and today, the La Liga president and other relevant parties have sent multiple letters to China Media Group offering public apologies. We believe that Mbapp's outrageous remarks have caused harm to the Chinese people, crossed the bottom line, and gone beyond the scope of freedom of expression. Mbapp himself is a Real Madrid player, and Real Madrid Club cannot shirk its responsibility. Therefore, we do not accept Real Madrid's explanation insisting that Mbapp "never intended to offend and simultaneously maintains that players have the right to express personal views," nor do we accept such an attitude from Real Madrid. As for Real Madrid's claim that "the club's cooperative relationship with Chinese sponsors remains unchanged," we will not verify its authenticity, but we reiterate that words and deeds that hurt the feelings of the Chinese people will naturally be jointly boycotted by all sectors of Chinese society. We hope Real Madrid will not indulge in wishful thinking and daydreaming. Until Real Madrid's apology is properly made, there is nothing to discuss.
