Bond Selloff and Riots Deal Dual Blow as French Consumer Confidence Index Falls to 13-Year Low
Zhitong Finance APP has learned that French households are under increasing pressure in the face of multiple shocks including a bond market selloff and protests that eventually turned into riots, and French consumer confidence has plunged to its lowest level in 13 years. Insee said on Tuesday that the consumer confidence index fell 5 points to 80 in October. This reading was below the median estimate of 85 in a media survey and below all economists' forecasts. Respondents' concerns about their personal financial situation, standard of living and unemployment all intensified.
