The finance ministries of the United Kingdom and Canada issued a joint statement on the 25th, saying that the "multilateral defense mechanism" established with UK participation and the "Defense, Security and Resilience Bank" led by Canada will operate as two distinct but complementary partnership mechanisms. According to UK media reports, the two sides originally intended to merge the two mechanisms, but the UK subsequently decided to go it alone. The statement said the two countries have jointly determined that, for the two different mechanisms operating around emerging industries, investment opportunities, and strategic financing, operating separately while supporting each other is the optimal solution.
