Power plant failure causes island-wide blackout in Iran's Kish Island, power restored in most areas.
Iran's state news agency IRNA reported that a power plant on Kish Island experienced a technical failure on Saturday, causing a power outage across the entire island, with power subsequently restored to most areas. The Kish Free Zone Organization initially reported that the outage was caused by equipment failure, and workers were carrying out emergency repairs. A subsequent update said the failure at the Kish Water and Power Company plant had been resolved, with power restored to most of the island, while workers were still carrying out restoration work in the remaining areas. Kish Island in the Persian Gulf has two power plants in total, and the organization said the other plant, the Mahtab power plant, continued to operate and supply power during the outage.
