Kenya's Ministry of Health issued a notice on the evening of October 23 stating that a 65-year-old female confirmed Ebola patient died that evening. This is the second death in Kenya's current Ebola outbreak. To date, Kenya has reported a cumulative total of 9 confirmed cases, of which 2 have died and the remaining 7 are receiving isolation treatment. The notice said that this patient was a close contact and family member of the first death in Kenya's current outbreak. She developed symptoms on October 13 and was admitted to an infectious disease specialty ward for treatment that day. Kenya's Ministry of Health stated that the patient's family has been formally notified, and relevant departments are coordinating with the family to arrange a proper burial in accordance with public health epidemic prevention protocols, in order to reduce the risk of further virus transmission.
