Zhitong Finance APP has learned that General Motors (GM.US), undeterred by the electric vehicle market downturn of the past few years, is advancing a new EV project and is expected to launch a new battery-powered mainstream SUV in about three years. GM executives told reporters at an event in New York that the company's latest initiative aims to launch multiple affordable electric vehicles in high-volume vehicle segments. At its core is the use of batteries based on lithium-manganese-rich chemistry, which offer longer range and lower cost compared with the technology used in GM's existing products.
