The Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Statistics and the Shanghai Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics released the economic performance of Shanghai for the first three quarters of 2026. In the first three quarters, Shanghai's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 121.634 billion yuan, down 1.1% year on year. Excluding automobiles, retail sales of consumer goods grew 1.0% year on year. By category, among units above the designated size, retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and textiles grew 6.2% year on year, retail sales of grain, oil, and food grew 4.9%, retail sales of furniture grew 7.4%, and retail sales of daily necessities grew 1.1%.
