During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China's earthquake monitoring capability will reach magnitude 1.02.5.
The reporter learned from the State Council Information Office's "Starting the 15th Five-Year Plan" series of themed press conferences held today that, in order to further enhance earthquake monitoring, forecasting, and early warning capabilities, China will improve its three-dimensional monitoring network. Dense geophysical observation networks for deformation, fluid, and electromagnetic monitoring will be built in key areas; deep-well observation stations will be constructed in regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei to obtain scientific data with higher precision and higher spatiotemporal resolution and to improve the ability to capture earthquake precursor information; marine earthquake observation stations will be built in coastal waters; and seismic monitoring stations will be deployed more densely in areas such as the southwest and northwest to expand earthquake monitoring capabilities and coverage in maritime areas and western regions. Various dedicated seismic station networks will be integrated and incorporated into the national station network system, enabling China's earthquake monitoring capability to reach magnitude 1.02.5.
