Allspring Global Investments points out that Indonesian bank and telecom stocks may face further declines. Although these companies are among the most fundamentally sound in Indonesia, they are finding it difficult to remain insulated from the broad selloff amid the risk that MSCI may downgrade Indonesia's market classification. Banks and telecoms together account for roughly 80% of the weight in the MSCI Indonesia Index. Since January, when MSCI first warned of a possible downgrade of this Southeast Asian market's classification, the index has fallen more than 40% cumulatively. During this period, shares of PT Telkom Indonesia Persero have nearly halved, while major financial institutions including PT Bank Central Asia and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Persero have each seen share price declines of at least 23%.

As U.S. President Donald Trump intensifies pressure on Ukraine to reach a peace deal with Russia, market participants are lowering risk premiums, driving wheat futures to their lowest level since August 5. On Wednesday, the most actively traded wheat contract fell as much as 0.5% intraday, marking its fifth consecutive trading day of declines. Earlier, during a new round of talks with U.S. envoys, Ukrainian President Zelensky sought to project a conciliatory stance. Nevertheless, Trump remained critical, saying the U.S. had "gotten nothing" from supporting Ukraine and that "it's time to make a deal." A ceasefire between the two sides could prompt large stockpiles of wheat held for sale in Russia and Ukraine to enter the market, increasing supply and pushing prices lower. However, Lachstock Consulting warned traders not to let their guard down regarding the direction of the Black Sea situation. The firm noted that Russia's Defense Ministry claimed to have struck a Ukrainian logistics center and a container ship near Odesa, while Ukrainian drones continued to attack Russian energy facilities; the two sides remain deeply divided on territorial issues. These developments underscore the persistent risks facing supply channels.
