On October 21, the latest research from Omdia showed that in the third quarter of 2026, India's smartphone shipments fell 26% year-on-year to 35.8 million units, hitting a near-decade low for the same period. Rising phone prices and increasingly cautious consumer spending dampened replacement demand, while delays in stocking for some festive sales further weighed on shipments in the quarter. Samsung returned to the top spot, with vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi and Apple ranking second through fifth. Looking ahead to 2027, elevated phone prices and lengthening replacement cycles will continue to constrain demand, and market shipments are expected to post another low single-digit percentage decline.
