Ministry of Water Resources Issues Standards for the Mother River Restoration Action

Recently, China's first industry standard for river and lake restoration, the Technical Guidelines for River and Lake Restoration, formulated by the Ministry of Water Resources, was officially released and will be fully implemented starting December 11, 2026. The guidelines focus on rivers and lakes affected by problems such as river flow cutoff, lake shrinkage, insufficient hydrodynamic force, and the resulting water ecological damage caused by unreasonable human activities. They clarify technical requirements including how to measure river and lake restoration standards, how to determine river and lake restoration goals, and how to formulate river and lake restoration measures, providing a technical basis for guiding the Mother River Restoration Action.
