Four soldiers killed in accident during exercise at Canadian Wainwright military base, officials confirm

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that an accident during an exercise at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta on Saturday killed four Canadian military personnel and seriously injured dozens more. The accident sparked a large fire, which broke out at around 4 p.m. in the base's training area; strong winds fanned the flames and spread the fire beyond the base boundary. Defence Minister David McGuinty said he could not recall a similar accident in recent years; the Canadian Armed Forces said there is currently no indication that the incident is related to terrorism.
