China has built a "most rigorous" standards defense line, cumulatively releasing 1,775 national food safety standards, ensuring that the entire process from farm to table has standards to rely on, and actively promoting the application of digital food labels to make access to food information more convenient and efficient. This information was learned by reporters on October 18 at the National Health Commission themed event of the 2026 National Food Safety Awareness Week, held under the theme "Uphold Virtue and Comply with the Law, Share Food Safety -- Deepening Whole-Chain Supervision." A relevant official from the Food Department of the National Health Commission stated that China continues to strengthen risk monitoring and assessment, promptly identify food safety hazards, enhance risk warning alerts, and guard well the first threshold against "illness entering through the mouth." In addition, food safety and nutrition are advanced in a coordinated manner, dietary guidance is strengthened for key populations such as student meals and elderly meals, 11 dietary guidelines including those for childhood and adolescent obesity have been introduced, and rational dietary concepts such as "reduce oil, increase beans, add milk" and "eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and aquatic products" are popularized to promote the development of scientific eating habits.
