PS6 price could break ten thousand dollars; PS6 memory cost already nearly 700 dollars.
Hardware industry sources have revealed that the material cost of RAM and NAND flash alone for Sony's planned next-generation console, the PS6, has already exceeded $680, a figure that does not yet cover the accelerated processing unit, cooling module, power system, and other key hardware components. If upstream component prices remain elevated, the PS6's final retail price could be significantly higher than that of the PS5 Pro, and may even reach or exceed $10,000. The source's estimate of the PS6's total bill of materials has also been continuously revised upward, rising from about $760 announced in March to about $960 in July. According to available clues, the PS6 is expected to use GDDR7 memory with a 160-bit bus width, with a theoretical maximum capacity of up to 40GB, while 30GB is widely regarded as the more realistic mainstream configuration for mass production. Other information indicates that Sony internally explored the feasibility of reducing memory capacity to ease overall system cost pressure.
