On Saturday local time, U.S. President Trump held a campaign rally in Kentucky to drum up votes for Republicans and help the party secure higher turnout in a difficult midterm election. While at the White House, he had touted his own power, saying: "I can do some incredible things." Trump spoke in Highland Heights to support Republican candidates including Ed Gallrein, who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives. He talked about his order to change the official name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. "I couldn't do this at all in my first term. I have much more power this term," Trump said. "In my first term, Google wouldn't even take my calls. Now they're bowing and scraping to me." He continued: "I also renamed a lake in Canada Lake America," referring to Lake Ontario. In his Kentucky speech, Trump jumped from topic to topic and touched on oil prices. He said the Iran war would end soonan assertion he has made repeatedly during the nearly eight-month conflictand that oil prices would fall to lower levels, drawing cheers from the crowd. Trump once again brought up the "Trump dividend" plan: if Republicans win both the Senate and the House, every American adult would receive $5,000. The plan would likely cost more than $1 trillion in total, require congressional approval, and further expand the U.S. fiscal deficit of nearly $1.8 trillion a year. At Saturday's rally, Trump added a conditional promise specifically for Kentucky. He said that if Republicans win, the Department of Defense would invest funds to revive a pharmaceutical production base in the state.
