Media analysis of US midterm election ads: Economy is the biggest issue, but the two parties focus on different aspects.
According to media analysis of campaign ads for the U.S. midterm elections, 60% of the content discusses the economy, with most of it addressing high prices. However, Republicans and Democrats cannot reach consensus on what other issues can mobilize midterm voters. Democratic ads focus on various expenses: they mention grocery prices three times as often as Republicans and gas prices twice as often. Republican ads focus on income: they mention wages and tips eight times as often as Democrats and Social Security seven times as often. Republican ads also attack Democrats who oppose the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," Trump's core domestic policy, which cuts some social welfare benefits in order to extend tax cuts and eliminates taxes on tips.
