Affected by the sharp declines in Samsung and SK Hynix shares, South Korea's benchmark index briefly fell below 6,000 points; analysts warned that continued foreign capital outflows will bring greater risks. Eugene Investment & Securities analyst Heo Jae-hwan said the scale of outflows is too large to be attributed solely to post-rally portfolio rebalancing, and South Korean domestic investors need to absorb this selling pressure. But this may be difficult, as retail investors remain cautious after the July decline, and institutions such as the National Pension Service have limited room to increase holdings. Yuanta Securities analyst Lee Jae-won said foreign capital flows have become more concerning than semiconductor earnings. He said, "Samsung Electronics' third-quarter operating profit exceeded market expectations, and memory prices and AI infrastructure investment remain firm. However, continued foreign selling is dragging down the performance of South Korea's KOSPI index relative to other markets."
