On October 10, an on-site meeting on AI-empowered teacher development was held in Beijing under the theme "Striving to Be Good Teachers in the Digital-Intelligent Era and Serving the High-Quality Development of Basic Education." Huai Jinpeng, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Minister of the Ministry of Education, attended the meeting. The meeting noted that teachers are the first resource for educational development, and that building a strong education nation and running education that satisfies the people hinges on teachers. Artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the forms of education, changing the ways knowledge is acquired, teaching is organized, and teachers and students interact. It is necessary to deeply grasp the new trends in AI development, fully understand and grasp the impact and challenges AI brings to education, the strategic opportunities of digital education empowering teacher development, and the key role of teachers in the digital-intelligent transformation, enhance the sense of urgency and responsibility, proactively recognize and respond to changes, and answer well the question of the times concerning teacher development. At the meeting, the Teacher Development Center of the National Smart Education Platform was upgraded and launched, and full coverage training on AI literacy for teachers was initiated.
