IDC: Vendors' advance stockpiling pulled forward demand, compounded by supply constraints, causing global PC shipments to decline 20.1% year-over-year in the third quarter.
Zhito Finance App has learned that the latest preliminary data released by International Data Corporation (IDC) shows that global PC shipments in the third quarter of 2026 were 62.7 million units, a year-on-year decline of 20.1%. This is already the second consecutive quarterly decline, and the drop is significantly larger than the 3.8% in the second quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, third-quarter shipments also fell by 9.1%, and the usual pattern of "the third quarter being stronger than the second quarter" did not appear this time. The supply side has still not recovered, and because earlier this year manufacturers and channel partners concentrated on stockpiling before price increases, demand was pulled forward, leaving little demand left to be released in the third quarter.
