Temasek International's Chief Investment Officer Rohit Sipahimalani pointed out that as global markets head into next year, two major risks lie ahead: a potential reversal of the artificial intelligence (AI)-related investment boom, and inflation pushing up bond yields, which could in turn end the stock market's upward momentum. He said: "The fading of the AI investment boom is the biggest risk. We don't think it will happen immediately, but there could be some turbulence in 2027." The other major issue is "concerns about inflation." He said: "Inflation is a risk, and combined with changes in the interest rate environment, this means the stock market could at some point be at risk of hitting a certain tipping point." He believes that this, together with the AI issue, constitutes the "two key risks for 2027" that he foresees.
