Canada's August exports to the U.S. surged ahead of new tariffs.

Statistics Canada data released on Tuesday showed that Canada's trade surplus with the United States widened from C$6.1 billion in July to C$11.2 billion in August, with exports to the U.S. rising 8.1% and imports from the U.S. falling 2.5%. This also marked the largest single-month positive change ever recorded in Canada's trade balance with the United States. Canada's total exports rose 2.5% in August, while total imports fell 2%, pushing the country's trade surplus with the world from C$787 million in July to C$4.2 billion, marking the sixth consecutive month of trade surplus.
