According to Al Jazeera, U.S. President Trump repeatedly emphasized that the higher gasoline prices American consumers are paying at the pump are "a small price to pay for maintaining world security and safeguarding national security." Trump made the remarks at a campaign rally held in Grand Island, Nebraska. While claiming that current oil prices are lower than during the Biden administration, Trump also said that gasoline prices will drop to below $1.85 per gallon (about 3.8 liters) within an "extremely short period of time." He reiterated that this could happen before the November 3 midterm elections, or immediately afterward. Trump said: "Please understand that we are saving this country... and even the entire world from a catastrophe that could be the worst tragedy in history," and once again stressed that the United States will never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
