According to US media reports, on October 5 local time, a British Airways passenger plane declared an emergency en route from London to Chicago in the United States. According to flight tracking website data, about 30 minutes after takeoff, the Boeing 777 passenger plane's altitude dropped from 36,000 feet to 9,000 feet in about 7 minutes, meaning it descended by nearly 8,230 meters. The cause of the incident is currently unclear.
