A United Nations humanitarian convoy was attacked in southern Sudan, killing one driver.
On October 4 local time, the United Nations World Food Programme issued a statement saying that two trucks belonging to the agency were attacked on the 3rd in South Kordofan State in southern Sudan, killing one truck driver. The statement said that when the vehicles were attacked, they were traveling from Dilling, the second-largest city in South Kordofan State, to Kadugli, the state capital, and were fully loaded with food and other humanitarian aid supplies, with clear humanitarian vehicle markings on their bodies. The statement did not mention the perpetrators of the attack. The World Food Programme called for a prompt and impartial investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be held accountable.
