Truist: Meta's Muse gains a distribution edge in the AI agent race, but OpenAI and Google have stronger reasoning capabilities.
Truist said Meta is gaining an early advantage in the emerging AI agent market thanks to its massive consumer user base and advertising ecosystem, though OpenAI and Google remain stronger in open-ended reasoning capabilities. The firm believes Muse and OpenAI's newly launched Dots are taking two different paths: Muse targets consumers first and is expanding toward small businesses, while Dots leans more toward developers and advanced users. Muse's biggest advantage is not its underlying model capability, but its direct access to Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as connections to tools commonly used by small businesses such as Shopify, QuickBooks, Stripe, Canva and Slack. Its small-business version can analyze sales and marketing performance, draft marketing campaigns, check spending and filter information, but still requires owner approval before publishing, sending or making payments. Truist believes Muse's larger long-term revenue contribution may come from driving advertising spending rather than subscription fees. By contrast, Dots has its own cloud computer, browser and app connectivity, and leans more toward enterprise scenarios. Muse has already reached 2.8 million early downloads, and Truist maintains its "Buy" rating and $763 price target on Meta.
