Ministry of Civil Affairs: Guard against illegal elderly care apps committing fraud under names such as "MinHuiTong"
The Ministry of Civil Affairs recently issued a notice stating that some illegal elderly care apps have recently carried out scams under names such as "Minhuitong." Criminals forged documents and impersonated Ministry of Civil Affairs staff, claiming they could "issue senior subsidies" and other benefits, and demanded that victims first pay insurance fees, deposits, activation fees, and other charges, or used "check-in to earn money," "high returns," and "recruit people for commissions" to induce top-ups and investments, ultimately making withdrawal impossible. The Ministry of Civil Affairs stated that it has never established or approved the establishment of projects such as "Minhuitong," nor has it launched any similar products or related apps. It asked the public to remain vigilant, not readily trust information from unknown sources or false publicity, and avoid being deceived. For users who have already participated or may have suffered losses, it is recommended to report the case to the local public security department as soon as possible to avoid further losses; if encountering suspicious circumstances, please immediately call 110 to report to the police or call 96110 for consultation and reporting.
