UK medium- and long-term government bond yields fell significantly on the US nonfarm payrolls day.

Late Friday in the European session, the UK 10-year gilt yield fell 3.2 basis points to 5.366%, flat overall for the week, having reached 5.504% in early trading on October 1 and fallen to 5.291% when the US nonfarm payrolls report was released on October 2. The 2-year gilt yield rose 1.6 basis points to 4.817%, down 2.1 basis points for the week. The 30-year gilt yield fell 5.4 basis points to 5.891%, up 4.9 basis points for the week, having reached 6.021% in early trading on October 1. The 50-year gilt yield fell 4.5 basis points to 5.306%, up 2.7 basis points for the week. The 2/10-year gilt yield spread fell 4.656 basis points to +54.772 basis points, up 2.246 basis points for the week.
