Manchester City appeal
Manchester City Football Club today issued a statement saying it has appealed against the independent commission's ruling that it seriously breached the Premier League's financial regulations, seeking to overturn the decision to avoid potentially severe sanctions. The Premier League announced on September 29 the independent commission's ruling on Manchester City's financial violations. The commission found that Manchester City breached the Premier League's relevant financial regulations during the 2009-2010 to 2017-2018 seasons, using false commercial contracts and other means to inflate revenue and underreport costs by more than 900 million pounds, and also found that the club failed to fully fulfill its duty of cooperation during the Premier League's investigation. Manchester City said it was "disappointed and surprised" by the ruling.
