Media: 12% of Russia's grain exports may lose access to the Baltic route.
Media cited the Russian Institute for Agricultural Economics and market sources as saying that if Latvia and Lithuania follow Estonia's lead in banning the transit of Russian grain, Russia will lose a route that handles about 12% of its grain exports. The Russian Institute for Agricultural Economics said that in September, about 300,000 tons of Russian grain were shipped abroad via Baltic ports, accounting for 12% of the total export volume of 2.5 million tons that month; of this, Latvia accounted for about 10% and Lithuania about 2%.
